Swedish Choreographer Carima Neusser and Paris-based artist Per Huttner have both been returning to work in Mexico regularly during the last decade. They have previously presented performances in institutions like Museo Jumex and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Queretaro. The two returned to Mexico in winter 2024-25 to develop new work during a 2,5 month residency.

Per Huttner presents a performance entitled “Two Rooms and What?” that encompasses music and moving images and that he developed during the stay in Mexico. He works with the EEGsynth (www.eegsynth.org) which is a hard and software platform that uses electroencephalogram (EEG) to allow performers to create sounds and images based on signals from the human brain in real time. He  invites Stefano Milano to perform with him at Casa Bestia and Rogelio Castillo at Fronda. The second performer wears an EEG cap on stage. The moving images that are presented have been be filmed during his stay in Mexico, allowing him to reflect on Mexican culture and aesthetics. The images will be also be influenced by the second performer’s brain activity.

The performance is divided into four parts, each with its distinct sound and images. The images are dark and often depict underwater worlds. As the title suggests, two depict rooms that start still and that spin faster and faster throughout the sequence. The two other two sequences offer a more amorphous and the images more eclectic and paradoxical in nature.
